Warranty and Support
How long is the warranty period?
The warranty covers defects that occur within two years from the original purchase date. Contact us at shop@joseph-johnson.com and we will provide you with the necessary support. We may ask for your order number as proof of purchase in addition to the warranty paperwork.
What is excluded from the warranty?
The warranty does not cover any abuse that you may subject your watch to. For example, water damage due to your negligence (such as submerging the watch in water without closing the crown), normal wear and tear, accidental glass damage, scratches, dead batteries, damage to the strap, or theft are not covered. A proof of purchase is required for all warranty claims and service inquiries. In any case, our customer service is always available to assist you and provide further information.
Do I have a warranty claim on water resistance?
Each of our watches is tested for water resistance before shipping. We can only guarantee at the time of this test that the watch is waterproof. Therefore, water resistance is excluded from the 2-year warranty. Please note that the water resistance test is a point-in-time test. Water resistance can be compromised by impact, temperature fluctuations, as well as the influence of fats and acids. Please note the following information regarding the water resistance of watches:
Water resistance is not a permanent property; it should be checked annually and especially before special stresses, as the built-in sealing elements deteriorate in function and daily use.
Watch cases are tightly assembled from several materials, which may have different coefficients of expansion with temperature fluctuations. To ensure water resistance for specific requirements, there are special constructions with built-in seals. These undergo a natural aging process and are attacked by sweat and acids.
DIN 8310 regulates criteria for construction and test pressure that new watches must withstand. The resistance is indicated in bars and marked on the case back.
When swimming and jumping into the water, a greater pressure on the sealing elements can arise briefly than the guaranteed test pressure. Watches are particularly at risk if you go swimming after sunbathing, as the impact pressure adds to the negative pressure due to cooling, which can easily lead to damage. Therefore, wearing the watch during a sauna visit is also not recommended.
Have your watch checked for water resistance annually. The crown should always be pushed or screwed down. It should not be moved underwater or with a damp case. The same applies to the operation of pushers.
Protect your watch from impact, strong heat, chemicals, and mechanical abrasion.
Seek immediate assistance from a watchmaker if moisture has entered your watch.
It is always advisable to refrain from attempting to dry the watch yourself, for example, on a radiator, as the moisture that has entered does not or only partially escapes from the case.
I have a problem with my watch, what should I do?
If you encounter an issue with your watch, please contact our customer service at shop@joseph-johnson.com.
Where is the service center located?
Our service center is located in Hildesheim, Germany. Please send packages to the following address:
Joseph Johnson, Lucienworthstr. 31, 31139 Hildesheim, GERMANY
How do I package the watch?
We recommend wrapping the watches in bubble wrap, a soft cloth, or several layers of kitchen paper. Then, place them in packaging that should be small enough for the wrapped watch to fit snugly inside, preventing it from moving around in the box during transit.
About the Watches
Formel:
Geschwindigkeit = Distanz / Zeit * 3600 (um in km/h umzurechnen)
Beispiele für die Verwendung:
Geschwindigkeit beim Sport (Joggen, Radfahren oder
Autofahren) messen
Entfernung eines Weges berechnen
Geschwindigkeit eines Fahrzeugs schätzen
Vorteile:
Do I need to change the battery?
Joseph Johnson offers both watches with mechanical winding (no battery) as well as battery-operated chronographs. Please check the product page or inquire with our support team at shop@joseph-johnson.com.
How do I dispose of batteries and battery-operated devices properly?
Regarding the distribution of batteries or the delivery of devices containing batteries, we would like to draw your attention to the following:
As an end user, you are legally obliged to return used batteries. You can return old batteries that we stock or have stocked in our range free of charge to our shipping warehouse (shipping address) or to specially designated collection points (e.g., municipal collection points or retail stores).
It is possible that old batteries contain pollutants or heavy metals that can harm the environment and health. The crossed-out wheeled bin symbol means that batteries must not be disposed of in household waste. Certain batteries containing pollutants are additionally marked with the following symbols below the crossed-out wheeled bin symbol:
Pb: Battery contains more than 0.004 percent by mass of lead
Cd: Battery contains more than 0.002 percent by mass of cadmium
Hg: Battery contains more than 0.0005 percent by mass of mercury
Please pay careful attention to these instructions.

Are Joseph Johnson watches waterproof?
Yes, all Joseph Johnson watches are at least splash-resistant. However, the levels of water resistance vary depending on the watch model. To find out the water resistance level of your timepiece, simply refer to the manual of the corresponding model. There you will find detailed information about the water resistance of your watch.
ATM stands for "atmospheres" and is often used to indicate the water resistance of watches. It is a unit of measurement that indicates how much water pressure a watch can withstand without being damaged. A higher number of ATM indicates better water resistance. 1 ATM is equivalent to the pressure at a depth of 10 meters underwater. Therefore, a watch labeled 3 ATM can withstand a pressure of 30 meters underwater before water enters.
It is important to note that the water resistance of watches depends not only on the ATM number but also on other factors such as the quality of the seals and the case, as well as the age of the watch. Therefore, it is advisable to follow the manufacturer's specifications and recommendations for water resistance to ensure that your watch can withstand the desired activities.
We offer watches in the following ATM variations:
3 ATM: A watch with a water resistance level of 3 ATM is splash-resistant and can withstand light rain and splashes. However, it should not be immersed in water as it is not suitable for swimming or diving. It is important to protect it from prolonged water exposure.
5 ATM: A watch with a water resistance level of 5 ATM offers better water resistance than 3 ATM. It can withstand light rain and splashes. This means it is suitable for activities such as hand washing and showering but not for diving or underwater activities. The watch should never be used for professional diving.
10 ATM: A watch with a water resistance level of 10 ATM is significantly more waterproof and robust. It is typically suitable for activities such as swimming, snorkeling, and water sports. These watches can also be worn in the shower. However, they are not designed for professional diving or deep dives.
30 ATM: A watch with a water resistance level of 30 ATM offers high water resistance and is typically suitable for demanding water sports and professional diving. It can be worn while diving in great depths and is resistant to high water pressure. These watches can also be used for deeper dives and technical diving. However, note that even with 30 ATM, regular watch maintenance including seal checks are required to maintain water resistance.
